Microelements
Introduction
In this Technical Report a review is made on the Microelements, what they are, what is their function in the plant and how they are transported within it.
The microelements or micronutrients are the chemical elements that although they are not required by the plants in high amounts to have a normal growth, it substantially improves the growth of the crop with its presence. The Microelements in plants are the following: Chlorine (Cl), Iron (Fe), Boron (B), Manganese (Mn), Magnesium (Mg), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Molybdenum (Mo) and Nickel. They can be absorbed by foliar or radicular and once assimilated, they are transported by complex mechanisms inside the plant through the conductive systems: xylem and phloem. Thanks to the transport system, the microelements reach the part of the plant where they are required.
